Is in his second year as pitching coach with the D-backs and 16th overall in a coaching capacity. Spent 7 seasons as bullpen coach with the Yankees (2008- 13) and Marlins (2006), all under Joe Girardi. During his tenure with the Yankees, their bullpen led the AL in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.49), wins (173), saves (279) and strikeouts (2,775), ranked second in opponent's batting average (.237) and third in ERA (3.56). Worked as pitching coach at Triple-A Iowa (Cubs) in 2007 and in the Padres' organization from 2000-05 at Class-A Rancho Cucamonga (2000), Class-A Fort Wayne (2001, '03), Class-A Lake Elsinore (2002, '04) and Double-A Mobile (2005). 


Went 36-36 with a 4.49 ERA in 131 career Major League games (104 starts) with the Cubs (1988-93), Rockies (1994), A's (1995), Angels (1995) and Dodgers (1997). Named The Sporting News 1990 NL Rookie of the Year after going 12-6 with a 3.26 ERA…made his Major League debut on Sept. 5, 1988 (Game 2) vs. Phillies. USA Today Minor League Player of the Year in 1988, going 16-4 with a 2.41 ERA for the Cubs. Selected by the Cubs in the frst round (fourth overall) in the 1987 free agent draft…also drafted by the Padres in the 18th round of the 1984 June Amateur Draft but did not sign


Michael Anthony Harkey. Married to Nikki…has 3 children: Tony, Cory and Miani. Son, Cory, is a NFL tight end with the St. Louis Rams (2012-present)…son, Tony, played baseball at Concordia University and was a member of the 2011 NAIA World Series championship team…daugher, Miani, is majoring in Business Management and Hospitality at Loyola Marymount University. Attended Cal State Fullerton from 1985-97, earning All-American honors as a junior. Graduated from Ganesha High School in Pomona, Calif.
