Pirates Charities Home Run 5K 10K - presented by Allegheny Health Network and Highmark

Pirates Charities invited runners, walkers and fans of all ages and abilities to join us on Saturday, April 16, 2016 for the first-ever Pittsburgh Pirates Home Run 5K 10K presented by Allegheny Health Network and Highmark, and the Chick-fil-A® One Mile Family Fun Run.

The following information applied to the 2016 event:
Registration Options:
5K Run
  • All 5K runners will be electronically timed.
  • Chips will be pre-assigned and distributed at packet pick-up (or mailed to you, based upon your selection).
  • Staggered start times will be assigned.
  • Runners will receive a tech T-Shirt and a ticket voucher good for a complimentary ticket to any one Pirates home game at PNC Park from the following available dates: April 16-17, May 2-4, 2016.
  • All 5K runners will receive a specially-designed commemorative medal upon completion of the race!
5K Walk
  • Participants are welcome to walk the 5K route.
  • Timing will not be available for walkers.
  • Walkers also receive a tech T-Shirt and a ticket voucher good for a complimentary ticket to any one Pirates home game at PNC Park from the following available dates: April 16-17, May 2-4, 2016.
  • All 5K walkers will receive a specially-designed commemorative medal upon completion of the race!
5K Team Challenge
  • Team of four people each running the 5K.
  • The four 5K times are averaged together for a team time.
  • Men/Women/Coed teams.
  • Team challenge participants receive a tech T-Shirt and a ticket voucher good for a complimentary ticket to any one Pirates home game at PNC Park from the following available dates: April 16-17, May 2-4, 2016.
  • All 5K team participants will receive a specially-designed commemorative medal upon completion of the race!
10K Run
  • All 10K runners will be electronically timed.
  • Chips will be pre-assigned and distributed at packet pick-up (or mailed to you, based upon your selection).
  • Staggered start times will be assigned.
  • Runners will receive a tech T-Shirt and a ticket voucher good for a complimentary ticket to any one Pirates home game at PNC Park from the following available dates: April 16-17, May 2-4, 2016.
  • All 10K runners will receive a specially-designed commemorative medal upon completion of the race!
  • 10K course will close at 9:20 a.m.
10K Team Challenge
  • Team of four people each running the 10K.
  • The four 10K times are averaged together for a team time.
  • Men/Women/Coed teams.
  • Team challenge participants receive a tech T-Shirt and a ticket voucher good for a complimentary ticket to any one Pirates home game at PNC Park from the following available dates: April 16-17, May 2-4, 2016.
  • All 10K team participants will receive a specially-designed commemorative medal upon completion of the race!
Chick-fil-A® One Mile Family Fun Run*
  • Families of all sizes are encouraged to join in the fun with a one mile course.
  • Children ages 14 and under will receive a discounted rate of $10.
  • Fee for participants ages 15 and over is $20 per registrant.
  • One Mile Family Fun Run participants will receive a specially-designed commemorative medal, a Family Fun Run T-Shirt, and a ticket voucher good for a complimentary ticket to any one Pirates home game at PNC Park from the following available dates: April 16-17, May 2-4, 2016.

*All runners under 18 will need a parent/guardian to read and approve the electronic waiver of liability upon registration.

Race Packets:

Participants can pick up race packets on race day beginning at 6:00 a.m. or in advance at the Pirates Administrative Offices, located on the corner of Federal and West General Robinson Streets (please see dates and times below). Packets contain a runner's bib (for all participants), a timing chip for 5K and 10K runners only, a game ticket voucher, and a T-Shirt voucher.

Please note: registrations placed after 4/8/16 will need to be picked up on race morning, April 16, beginning at 6 a.m. on West General Robinson Street. These packets will not be available at packet pick-up.

Advance Packet and/or Tech T-Shirt Pick-up Dates and Times at the Pirates Administrative Offices:
  • April 9th and 10th: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • April 12th and 13th: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • April 15th: 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

(Please note: The Pirates are playing on April 13th and 15th at PNC Park at 7:05 p.m.)

Post-Race Party:

All participants are invited to the post-race party that will be held on Federal Street immediately following the conclusion of the race. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided!

Start/Finish Line:

New for 2016, the 5K, 10K and Family Fun Run will start on General Robinson Street. All routes will finish on the field at PNC Park.

Tech T-Shirts/Pirates Game Tickets:

All 5K and 10K participants will receive a tech T-Shirt and a ticket voucher good for a complimentary ticket to any one Pirates home game at PNC Park from the following available dates: April 16-17, May 2-4, 2016. Family Fun Run participants will receive a specially-designed, commemorative Family Fun Run T-Shirt and a ticket voucher good for a complimentary ticket to any one Pirates home game at PNC Park from the following available dates: April 16-17, May 2-4, 2016.

Please note: if you elect to have your packet mailed to you, your t-shirt will NOT be mailed. You will receive a voucher that can be redeemed at packet pick-up or on race day.

Top Finisher Recognition:
  • The top male and top female 5K and 10K runners in each age group will be recognized on the field prior to the Pirates vs. Cubs game on Friday, April 29th at PNC Park. Age groups are: under 15, 16-19, and 10 year age groups from 20-70+.
  • The top Team Challenge group in each category will be recognized on the field prior to the Pirates vs. Cubs game on Friday, April 29th at PNC Park. Team Challenge categories are male, female and coed.
  • #1 Pirates Fan - The participant with the most festive Pirates attire will win a customized jersey and two complimentary tickets to the Pirates/Brewers game on Saturday, April 16th.
Winner Notification:

Race results will be printed and posted on site post-race, and online at pirates.com/HOMERUN by 1:30 p.m. Top finishers in each age group will be contacted via telephone/e-mail with instructions regarding details for the pregame recognition ceremony.

Timing Services:

Timing services for the Pittsburgh Pirates Home Run 5K/10K are being provided by The Runner's High of Grove City, PA. Chips will be assigned upon registration.

Parking:

Complimentary parking will be available, courtesy of Alco Parking, for all participants in Alco's North Shore parking lots.

2017 Race Notification via E-Mail:

Registration for the 2016 race ensures participants will receive early notification via e-mail regarding the 2017 race.

Cancelling a Registration:

Please e-mail PiratesCharities@pirates.com if you have registered and cannot participate in the race. Your registration fee is non-refundable.
