QUEENS, NEW YORK -- Prior to tonights game, New York Mets players Moises Alou, Endy Chavez, Carlos Delgado, Damion Easley, Shawn Green, David Newhan, Scott Schoeneweis and David Wright will provide everlasting memories to a group of local children as the Major League Baseball Players Trusts Buses for Baseball program motors in to Queens.
Courtesy of the players charitable foundation and the Urban Womens Safe Haven of Brooklyn, the select group will receive round-trip transportation to the game, meet the players, and receive free tickets, food, beverages and souvenirs.
Buses for Baseball, a program administered by the Players Trust and underwritten by Majestic Athletic, a division of VF Imagewear, Inc., provides transportation and personal greetings for underprivileged children attending Major League Baseball games as invited guests of their big league heroes.
The Players Trust enjoys support from the Urban Womens Safe Haven and the New York Mets organization in providing this unique, up close and personal opportunity to share the thrill of Major League Baseball with those less fortunate. Buses for Baseball provides many children with their first chance to attend a Major League Baseball game.
