D-backs name Cron Minor League hitting coordinator

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) announced Chris Cron has joined the organization as the club's Minor League Hitting Coordinator, as announced today by D-backs Director, Player Development Mike Bell.
Cron, 49, enters his 30th season in professional baseball, previously holding the role of manager for the Tigers' Double-A Erie affiliate (2010-13). In 16 seasons in the White Sox (1995-99, 2003-10), Rockies (2000-02) and Tigers organizations, he went 956-962 (.498) and guided his team to the playoffs 8 times (1997-98, 2005, '07-10, '13). Cron has garnered Manager of the Year accolades in the Carolina League (1998) and Pioneer League (2010), and captured a Pioneer League Championship in 2008.
Cron played 12 Minor League seasons with the Braves (1984-86), Angels (1987-91), White Sox (1992-93, '95) and Indians (1994), reaching the Major League-level with California (1991) and Chicago-AL (1992). The Albuquerque, N.M., native was drafted by the Braves in the second round of the 1984 draft.
