D-backs Announce 2014 Minor League Coaching Staff

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) named their 2014 Minor League coaching staff, including the addition of former Major Leaguer Phil Nevin as the Triple-A Reno Manager, as announced by D-backs Director, Player Development Mike Bell.

Nevin, 42, enters his sixth season as a Manager and 17th season of professional baseball. He spent the last four seasons as a Manager in the Tigers system, where he compiled a 254-318 record with Triple-A Toledo from 2011-13 and Double-A Erie in 2010. In 2009, he managed the Orange County Flyers of the Independent Golden Baseball League.

Nevin hit .270 (1,131-for-4,188) with 208 home runs and 743 RBI in 1,217 career games as an infielder over parts of 12 seasons with the Astros (1995), Tigers (1995-97), Angels (1998), Padres (1999-2005), Rangers (2005-06) Cubs (2006) and Twins (2006). He was the Astros first overall selection in the 1992 First-Year Player Draft out of Cal-State Fullerton after garnering the Golden Spikes Award and National Player of the Year honors by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball.

Rob Ducey, 48, will serve as Rookie-Advanced Missoula's Hitting Coach, his third season as a hitting coach after stints with the Expos' Double-A team in 2004 and Yankees' Short-Season A affiliate in 2005. Ducey most recently served as a professional scout with the Rays in 2010 and Blue Jays from 2006-09. The former outfielder hit .242 (309-for-1,279) with 78 doubles, 31 home runs and 146 RBI in 703 career games over parts of 13 seasons with the Blue Jays (1987-1992, 2000), Angels (1992), Rangers (1993-94), Mariners (1997-98), Phillies (1999-2001) and Expos (2001). He was signed by the Blue Jays as a Non-Drafted Free Agent on May 16, 1984 out of Seminole State College of Florida.

Also, former Minor League infielder Vince Harrison (2001-07) joins the organization as Rookie-Level Arizona League's Hitting Coach.
