PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks received the Community Impact award at the 19th annual Arizona's Corporate Excellence (ACE) Awards presented by the Phoenix Business Journal, which was held at the Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts last night.
"We are honored to be recognized by the Phoenix Business Journal among the top businesses in the Arizona community," said Hall. "To be revered as a community leader for the impact we make is very special and something we take great pride in."
The D-backs and Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation have surpassed $33 million in combined donations since their inception in 1998 and continues to be seen as one of the top philanthropic organizations in the Valley. This season the D-backs have already raised $1 million from their 50-50 Raffle as well as a record $1.8 million at Evening on the Diamond earlier this year. In addition, the D-backs raised $725,000 in just over a week to support the victims of the Yarnell fire. Currently, the D-backs are accepting nominations for their second annual $150,000 School Challenge, presented by the University of Phoenix, and will hand out $5,000 to 30 schools throughout the state.
Last year, the D-backs created an employee-driven community service program titled the "D-backs Give Back League" which featured nine groups working on separate projects to help improve the Arizona community. The nine teams combined to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars with more than 2,650 hours of time volunteered by D-backs employees.
