D-backs reach 100,000 followers on Twitter
#DbacksSocial Media Night to take place on Sept. 27 with special panel and T-shirt giveaway

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) reached the 100,000 mark in followers on Twitter today and in appreciation for those fans, will give away 100 prizes on Thursday, Sept. 12. The team also announced that it will hold a #DbacksSocial Media Night on Sept. 27, highlighted by a panel of guests including D-backs announcers Greg Schulte (@GubnuhDbacks), Steve Berthiaume (@BertDbacks) and right-handed pitcher Daniel Hudson (@DHuddy41).
Among all 30 Major League teams during the 2013 regular season, the D-backs rank 4th in engagement per fan on Twitter, which is a relative measure of fan interaction with an account. It calculates the aggregate actions taken by fans over the total number of followers.
On Facebook (facebook.com/dbacks), the team has more than 317,000 fans and ranks 2nd in baseball in engagement per fan.
On Instagram (instagram.com/dbacks), the D-backs have more than 40,000 followers on one of the more active accounts in all of baseball, ahead of larger or comparable markets such as the Washington Nationals (34,000), Colorado Rockies (32,500) and Cleveland Indians (31,750).
Since Opening Day, the @Dbacks Twitter account has grown 37 percent while the account has grown 60 percent since Jan. 1, 2013. On Instragram, the increase in followers has been exponential, as the team has seen a 730-percent growth since the beginning of the year.
On Sept. 27, when the D-backs host their annual #DbacksSocial Media Night, fans who purchase a discounted ticket at www.dbacks.com/social will receive a special @Dbacks T-shirt (with the design to be determined by the team's social media fans) and $10 in free D-bucks food and merchandise credit.
In addition, these fans will be granted early entry at 4 p.m. to watch batting practice and will participate in a Q & A session with Schulte, Berthiaume and Hudson. Each ticket for the #DbacksSocial Media Night is $25 and is in the Baseline Box seating area. Fans will also be able to participate in an in-ballpark scavenger hunt on Instagram for prizes and see their tweets on the center field dbTV scoreboard throughout the game.
During 2013, the D-backs have had more than 10-million visits to dbacks.com, a 17-percent increase from 2012 and more than 37-million page views, an increase of close to 10 percent. The team's unique visitors have increased by more than 21 percent over last season.
