The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) announced they have avoided arbitration and agreed to a one-year contract with outfielder Gerardo Parra (@88_gparra), according to D-backs Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.
Parra, 25, hit .273 (105-for-385) with 21 doubles, 7 home runs and 36 RBI in 133 games with Arizona in 2012. He made 90 starts (44 in center field, 33 in left and 13 in right) and recorded 8 outfield assists.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder is a career .280 hitter (462-for-1,649) with 23 home runs and 172 RBI in 4 seasons with the D-backs from 2009-12. Parra received his first National League Rawlings® Gold Glove Award as a left fielder in 2011, and ranks second among NL outfielders with 37 assists since 2009, trailing only Hunter Pence (47).
