Big Unit wins first D-backs Legends Race
Johnson holds off Gonzalez, Grace, Williams in mascot sprint

The Big Unit's mascot defeated those of Arizona's own Luis Gonzalez, Matt Williams and Mark Grace in the first-ever D-backs Legends Race during the club's 12-5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night at Chase Field.
Johnson, Gonzalez, Williams and Grace, all of whom played on the organization's 2001 World Series-winning team, were chosen to be memorialized due to their immense contributions as players.
Similar to the Presidents Race at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., and the Sausage Race at Miller Park in Milwaukee, the D-backs Legends Race race features 10-foot-tall men in uniform with large foam heads that resemble the four legends. At the end of every home game's fifth frame, the characters run a race that starts near the right-field foul pole and ends at the on-deck circle near the D-backs' dugout.
For future home dates, the D-backs mascots will greet fans before games at the main rotunda entrance of Chase Field and pose for photos in the St. Joseph's Hospital Sandlot on the upper level after the race through the end of the game.
