D-backs launch free digital D-backs portal over AT&T Wi-Fi to enhance fan experience with exclusive content available only at Chase Field

(PHOENIX) - The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today they have launched a free interactive portal exclusively over AT&T Wi-Fi at Chase Field that will offer an enhanced experience for every fan visiting the ballpark by providing content such as video replays, food listings and up-to-the-moment game information on Wi-Fi-enabled smartphones or tablet devices.

"The D-backs have been pioneers in the sports industry for the many ways we have enhanced the fan experience at Chase Field during the past five years," D-backs' President & CEO Derrick Hall said. "In addition to providing great customer service and affordable prices, we believe enhancing the technological aspects of a fan's experience at the ballpark is a must. Our Digital D-backs Wi-Fi portal allows fans attending games at Chase Field to receive exclusive information and content about the team that they would not receive by watching the game at home."

Fans can view the portal by browsing to digitaldbacks.com after connecting to the ballpark's Wi-Fi system, provided by AT&T. The Digital D-backs Wi-Fi portal will offer fans:

  • Up-to-the moment box scores and game summaries
  • On-demand video replays
  • Chase Field information, history and tours
  • Instructions on how to text Security to report any ballpark or guest behavior issues
  • Fan captions for closed captioning of every public address announcement for hearing-impaired fans
  • Listings of the nearest concession stands
  • Complete D-backs roster information, regular-season schedule and current standings
  • Ticket and promotion information for upcoming games at Chase Field

Fans attending games at Chase Field can further upgrade their in-game experience by utilizing the check-in feature within the MLB.com At Bat 11 App, which offers an array of additional content and social media interaction including interactive Chase Field maps, expanded D-backs video highlights, a league-wide scoreboard and Chase Field offers and rewards. The App is available for a one-time fee of $14.99 on iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices. Fans will be able to order food from select mobile phones by using the MLB.com At Bat 11 App later this season.

The D-backs' Wi-Fi portal capabilities also will allow fans possessing Wi-Fi-enabled smartphones and tablet devices to get unique content at the MLB All-Star Game at Chase Field on July 12.

The Digital D-backs Wi-Fi portal is accessible to fans at Chase Field because of an agreement the D-backs secured with AT&T during the offseason to expand broadband connectivity with fast and reliable AT&T Wi-Fi throughout the ballpark. AT&T, an industry pioneer in Wi-Fi with the nation's largest Wi-Fi network, has installed 278 Wi-Fi access points throughout Chase Field, and will expand wireless voice and data connectivity with a new Distributed Antenna System (DAS) later this season.
