The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today they have declined to exercise the 2011 club option on first baseman Adam LaRoche, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President and General Manager Kevin Towers.
LaRoche, 30, hit .261 (146-for-560) with 37 doubles, 2 triples, 25 home runs and 100 RBI in 151 games last season. Over parts of 7 seasons in the Majors with the Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox and D-backs, he owns a .271 average with 242 doubles, 9 triples, 161 home runs and 569 RBI. LaRoche was signed to a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2011 on January 15, 2010.
The move brings the 40-man roster to 38 players.
