PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks announced that fans purchasing full season ticket packages to watch the defending National League West Division Champions during 2008 season at Chase Field will receive at least a 50 percent discount over premier single-game ticket prices when the club released its single-game and season-ticket pricing today.
The new pricing for fans renewing or purchasing season tickets included reducing prices for more than a quarter of the seats (29%) and no price increase for 76 percent of seats at Chase Field. On the field level, some Baseline Reserve seats were reduced from $20 to $15 while Bullpen seats were decreased from $16 to $15 and most Bullpen Reserve from $16 to $10. All three price categories on the Insight Diamond Level experienced reductions ranging from $4 to $19 per game. The MVP Box seats on the upper level were reduced from $19 to $17 while the Infield Reserve and Outfield Reserve incurred no price increase and are still priced at $8 and $5 per game, respectively.
"It is common practice in the sports industry to impose a slight ticket price increase on an annual basis, especially after experiencing an exciting and successful season like we did last year," said D-backs' President Derrick Hall. "However, it remains our philosophy to reward our most loyal fans who make a commitment to us by purchasing season tickets while continuing to offer a safe and affordable entertainment experience."
This marks the second consecutive season the D-backs have reduced or not raised prices on a majority of the seats at Chase Field. Prior to the 2007 season, the club did not raise ticket prices for 86 percent of the ballpark, including decreasing prices on more than half (59%) of the seats. The D-backs were ranked as the best value in baseball with an average ticket price of $13.79 in 2007, according to Team Marketing Report, when the average MLB ticket price was $22.69.
The D-backs drew 2,325,233 fans to Chase Field last year, marking the highest total since drawing 2,519,560 fans in 2004. The D-backs drew 2,058,741 fans to the ballpark in 2005 and 2,091,685 in 2006.
