Veteran play-by-play announcer Mike "Doc" Emrick will join MLB Network's Bob Costas to call the MLB Network Showcase telecast of the Chicago Cubs at Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will mark the first regular season MLB game call for Emrick, the preeminent hockey announcer in the United States and a lifelong baseball fan, following his guest stint with the Pirates' broadcast team at Spring Training this past March.
This Sunday, May 15 marks 75 years since Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio began his 56-game hitting streak, a legendary record that still stands today. To mark the anniversary, MLB Network will debut a new edition of its documentary series MLB Network Presents called 56: The Streak, to look back at the improbable feat during the 1941 season and explore just how difficult it would be to beat in today's game. MLB Network and NHL Network today announced that veteran national TV anchor Robert Flores will serve as a studio host and appear across both networks' programming. Flores will make his debut on MLB Tonight on Monday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. ET, and he will host NHL Tonight for the first time on Wednesday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. ET. As part of the digital media rights partnership between the NHL and MLB Advanced Media, NHL Network's daily on-air operations are based out of MLB Network's headquarters in Secaucus, N.J. Further, Flores will have a key presence across digital media properties, including MLB.com and Sports On Earth.
