DENVER -- The D-backs kept their slim playoff hopes alive on Friday as they beat the Rockies, 15-5, at Coors Field.

The win was the fourth in the last five games for the D-backs, who crept to within 4 1/2 games on the Cardinals for the second National League Wild Card spot. Arizona is now 75-75 on the season.

The D-backs have 12 games left on the schedule, including six more with the Rockies, but they need to leapfrog the Phillies, Dodgers, Brewers and Cardinals to make the postseason.

In addition to the six games with the Rockies, the D-backs face the Giants in a three-game series at AT&T Park and play host to the Cubs.

Magic numbers
To calculate a team's magic number, take the number of games it has remaining and add one. Then subtract the difference in the number of losses between that team and its closest pursuer.

Tiebreaker scenarios
A tiebreaker game will be played to determine a division winner, even if the tied clubs are assured of participating in the postseason. If a division championship tiebreaker is necessary, the head- to-head record between the clubs will determine home-field advantage. If the head-to-head record is tied, then the division record will be the next tiebreaker.

If two clubs are tied for the two Wild Card berths, home-field advantage will be determined by the head-to-head record between the clubs. If the head-to-head record is tied, then the division record will be the next tiebreaker.
