The Arizona Diamondbacks announced they have claimed infielder Cody Ransom off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers, according to D-backs’ Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.
Ransom, 36, was claimed off waivers by the Brewers on May 23 and in 64 games, hit .196 (33-for-168) with 7 doubles, 6 homers and 26 RBI. Ransom opened the season in the D-backs organization and was designated for assignment by the D-backs on May 21 after hitting .269 (14-for-52) with 4 home runs and 13 RBI in 17 games. He had his contract selected on April 18 from Triple-A Reno, where he opened the season and hit. 294 (10-for-34) with 2 doubles, 2 homers and 9 RBI in 10 games.
Ransom will report to the club and be activated tomorrow when rosters expand.
