D-backs reinstate Blum from disabled list, place McDonald on disabled list
PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today they have reinstated infielder Geoff Blum from the 60-day disabled list and placed infielder John McDonald on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to June 25) with a strained left oblique, according to D-backs’ Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.
Blum, 39, had been sidelined since April 18 (retroactive to April 17) with a strained left oblique. In 12 rehab games for at Triple-A Reno, he hit .237 (9-for-38) with 3 doubles, a homer and 8 RBI. In 11 games with the D-backs this season, he hit .091 (1-for-11) with a RBI.
McDonald, 37, hit .267 (23-for-86) with 7 doubles, 4 homers and 12 RBI in 33 games. In his first 12 games from April 7-May 5, he hit .371 (13-for-35) with 4 doubles, a homer and 4 RBI.
The D-backs 40-man roster is at 39.
