D-backs recall pair from Triple-A Reno
Hinch says Oeltjen, Carlin are final additions to rosterBy Steve Gilbert / MLB.com

PHOENIX -- The D-backs recalled outfielder Trent Oeltjen and catcher Luke Carlin from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday one day after Reno's season came to an end."This will be the final additions to our team for the rest of the season, at least the anticipated final additions," Arizona manager A.J. Hinch said. "It will be nice to add those guys. They've earned it."
Both players were with the D-backs earlier in the year.
Oeltjen was called up to the big leagues for the first time on Aug. 6 and homered in three of his first four games and was hitting .500 through his first five.
Oeltjen cooled off and was sent back to Reno on Aug. 29 to make room for Justin Upton on the roster. He finished with a .303 batting average and an .862 OPS (on-base plus slugging) in Reno.
"He was the unlucky guy to go down for 10 days but definitely deserved to come back," Hinch said.
Carlin was promoted June 23 when Chris Snyder was placed on the disabled list and hit .176 in 17 at-bats before being sent back to Reno on July 28 when Snyder was activated.
With Reno, Carlin split playing time with John Hester and hit .321 with a .911 OPS.
Part of the reason to call up Carlin, which gives Arizona three catchers, is because Snyder is currently on the disabled list with back trouble.
"I think it guards against Snyder being gone for the rest of the year," Hinch said.
