D-backs hold line on '10 season tickets

PITTSBURGH -- The D-backs became the first team in baseball to send out 2010 season-ticket renewal forms Monday, and in addition to holding steady on prices, the organization has added bonuses as well.

Similar to the past two seasons, fans purchasing season tickets will receive a savings of at least 50 percent over fans purchasing single-game tickets to premier games.

"We're going to continue looking at ways to add value for our season-ticket holders," D-backs team president and CEO Derrick Hall said.

One of the added-value components is that all season-ticket holders will receive priority when it comes to purchasing tickets to the '11 All-Star Game at Chase Field as well as to games at the team's new Spring Training facility set to open on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community land in 2011.

The D-backs have had the lowest average ticket price in Major League Baseball since '07.

"We were pleased with where we are price-wise," Hall said. "These are tough times for people all over."

The D-backs sent out season-ticket renewals early last season and had a good response, which encouraged them to do it again this year even, with the team struggling on the field.

"This is the time of the year that baseball is most on people's minds," Hall said. "Whether it's now or in December, people are going to have to make a decision."

As a way to ease the decision financially, the team is offering four payment options, one of which allows fans to spread payments out over a 10-month period.

Season-ticket holders renewing their accounts for '10 are eligible to win unique prizes and experiences as part of the "30 Prizes in 30 Days" promotion that will run Aug. 28-Sept. 26. Prizes include a 30-minute batting session with Mark Reynolds, a 30-minute fielding session with Chris Young, a trip to the '10 All-Star Game in Anaheim, D-backs player autographs and travel getaways. Winners will be announced each day on the team's radio and television broadcasts and during inning breaks while the team is at home.

While individual-game ticket prices will be announced at a later date, they too will likely remain flat.

"I'd be surprised if there are any increases," Hall said.

This is the fourth consecutive season the D-backs have not raised prices on at least a majority of the seats at Chase Field. The team's average ticket price of $14.31 according to "Team Marketing Report" was almost $12 below the average Major League Baseball ticket price of $26.74.
