D-backs on the mound: Starter Yusmeiro Petit gave up six hits and four runs in three innings. Scott Schoeneweis gave up a run and a hit in one inning, and Tony Pena gave up four runs in one inning. Chad Qualls threw a scoreless frame.
Rockies on the mound: After some rough outings this spring, right-hander Jason Marquis went five innings, giving up two runs and three hits, with four strikeouts. Josh Fogg and Matt Belisle, who appear to be competing for a single bullpen spot, each threw a scoreless inning.
Cactus League records: D-backs 11-18, Rockies 13-16
Up next for D-backs: The D-backs take on the Dodgers on Tuesday afternoon at 1:05 MST at Tucson Electric Park. While ace Brandon Webb pitches in a Minor League game across the street, Billy Buckner will be pitching for a spot on the roster. The right-hander, locked in a battle for one of the final spots on the pitching staff, will be making his final Cactus League appearance. Two other competitors, Leo Rosales and Bobby Korecky, are also expected to see action.
