D-backs sign three pre-arbitration arms
Petit, Rosales and Newby all agree on one-year deals
GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The D-backs have reached agreement with three of their pre-arbitration players on one-year contracts.
Pitchers Yusmeiro Petit, Leo Rosales and Kyler Newby signed one-year deals.
Petit, who was 3-5 with a 4.31 ERA in 19 games (eight starts) for the D-backs last year will make $411,500 if he is in the big leagues and $182,900 if he is in the Minors. Petit, who is out of Minor League options, is a candidate to be a long man out of the bullpen.

Rosales was acquired by the D-backs from the Padres in 2007 in exchange for outfielder Scott Hairston. The right-hander will make $403,000 when in the big leagues and $147,050 in the Minors. Rosales made his big league debut last June and was 1-1 with a 4.20 ERA in 27 relief appearances.
Newby was a 50th-round pick in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft and was 4-3 with a 2.69 ERA with 16 saves in 46 appearances for Class A Visalia last year. His performance earned him a spot on the 40-man roster. Newby will make $400,000 if he is in the big leagues and $32,500 in the Minors.
The D-backs still have 19 players left to sign before the March 11 deadline.
