Diamondbacks 8, Mariners 1

Diamondbacks at the plate: Third baseman Brian Barden had three hits, raising his average to .436 this spring. Chris Young and Stephen Drew hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning.

Mariners at the plate: Outfielder Tony Torcato hit a solo homer to account for Seattle's only run. Ben Broussard had three singles.

Diamondbacks on the mound: Edgar Gonzalez came up with a big outing as he looked to secure a spot in the starting rotation, allowing just a solo homer in five frames while striking out four. D.J. Carrasco worked three scoreless innings in relief.

Mariners on the mound: Jeff Weaver was roughed up a bit, giving up six runs on seven hits and two walks in four innings. His ERA rose to 8.31 for the spring. Jon Huber gave up the final two runs in his inning of work.

Cactus League records: Diamondbacks 13-7; Mariners 7-15

Up next: The Diamondbacks will head up to the Valley for a game with the Angels in Tempe on Wednesday. The Mariners will take on the Rockies at Hi Corbett Field.
