One in four adults -- approximately 57.7 million Americans -- experience a mental health disorder in a given year. One in 17 lives with a serious mental illness, such as schizophrenia, major depression or bipolar disorder, and about one in 10 children have a serious mental or emotional disorder.
NAMI Arizona is a grassroots organization of individuals and families whose lives are affected by mental illness. Through education, advocacy, and support, we strive to eliminate the pervasive stigma of mental illness, effect positive changes in mental health services, and increase the public and professional understanding of mental illness. We provide educational classes, support groups, resource referrals and information free of charge to Arizona communities.
NAMI, the "Nation's Voice on Mental Illness", is the largest grassroots mental health organization in the country and in Arizona. We are gaining strength daily and making a difference in the lives of many. Worth magazine recently ranked NAMI as one of the "top 100 charities most likely to change the world".
