Mike Piatnik
Special Assistant to the GM & Major League Scout

Mike PiatnikMike Piatnik is in his 22nd season with the D-backs and third as Special Assistant to the GM/Major League Scout. Piatnik's focus is in scouting Major League players and to serve as an advisor on player trades, acquisitions and roster moves.

An original D-backs employee, he has previously served as a Major League Scout, Major League Advanced scout, Pro Scout, Cross checker and Area Scout.

Prior to joining the D-backs, Piatnik spent 5 years with the Texas Rangers and 3 with the Cleveland Indians as an area scout in Florida.

From 1984-87, Piatnik served as the program director for the Doyle Professional Baseball School.

Piatnik was drafted in 1981 by the Minnesota Twins and played two seasons in the Minor Leagues as an infielder.

He attended Florida Southern College, where he earned a degree in Sports Management. During his time there, he played 4 seasons as a shortstop and appeared in 4 College World Series. He was a member of the 1978 and 1981 Division II National Championship teams and was a captain of the 1981 squad.

He and his wife, Robin, reside in Winter Haven, Fla. They have 2 children, Mitchell and Megan.
