Established in 1997, before the Arizona Diamondbacks ever played a Major League game, the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation focuses on the three areas of need: homelessness, indigent healthcare and youth education programs of all types. Since its inception, the D-backs Foundation has donated more than $14.5 million statewide. Funds for the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation are raised through events such as Evening on the Diamond, Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation Broadcast Auction, "Shirts Off Our D-backs," and other team-related activities. The Arizona Diamondbacks take great pride in being recognized as a leader in community giving. Our commitment to the needs of our state will continue to be a cornerstone of our corporate mission.
Grand Slam Award
The Grand Slam Award was established in 2002 to make a larger impact on community organizations by providing a grant of up to $100,000. The 2008 Grand Slam Award recipients are Great Hearts Academies, Horses with H.E.A.R.T., Open Table and Valley Youth Theatre. The organizations received either a $75,000 or $100,000 grant funded by the Arizona Diamondbacks partnership group to make a lager impact on that organization's bottom line. Past recipients include Southwest Autism Research Center and Resource Center, ACCEL, the Amblyopia Foundation, Clinica Adelante, Chrysalis Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence, Arizona Helping Hands, Phoenix Herpetological Society, UMOM and Boys & Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix. The grant is made possible by fundraising efforts by the D-backs Foundation and by contributions from the Diamondbacks Partnership Group.

Program Grants
In addition to the Grand Slam Awards, 59 program grants totaling $265,000 were given statewide to non-profit organizations in the amounts of $1,000 to $5,000. Fund for these grants were raised throughout the 2008 season through team fundraising events, including the second annual "Evening on the Diamond" benefit dinner, "Shirts Off Our D-backs," Father's Day "Play Catch on the Field," the "Sleepover at Chase Field," as well as additional events. All 501(c)3 non-profit organizations in Arizona are welcome to apply for funding, however priority is given to organizations who fall under the D-backs Foundations' focus areas.
The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation conducts a number of fundraising activities throughout the year to provide funds for the programs it focuses its efforts on: homelessness, indigent healthcare and children's programs of all types, including education and youth baseball field development. Diamonds Back Field Building Program
Since 2000, Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation has built or refurbished over 28 baseball fields as part of the "Diamonds Back" Youth Field Building Program. The fields are built through the aid of corporate sponsor APS, local businesses, funds from Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and monetary donations from individual players. Fields are dedicated in Diamondbacks players' names and generally feature new lights, an electronic scoreboard, new fencing and backstops, new irrigation and new dirtwork and/or grass. The locations of the fields are determined through a grant process. More about the Diamonds Back Field Building program » | Download an application (PDF) »
